The Frank Campo Memorial Humanitarian Award was created in 2014 by PRIME EVENTS and Dave Talarico of William Schoppy Inc. upon the retirement of the longtime Atlantic City athletics director in recognition of Campo’s more than three decades of dedication to the student-athletes of the Cape-Atlantic League. It became a memorial award when he died in 2024.

The award is presented to the CAL senior varsity athlete whose academic achievement and dedication to community and service was the most outstanding. This year’s presentation was made last month at the Music Pier Auditorium on the Ocean City Boardwalk.

Our winner from the Class of 2026 had 1380 SATs and a 5.16 grade point average. 

He was co-founder of the non-profit organization “STEM Enrichment of New Jersey”, raising $3,000 to introduce STEM fields for children in under-served communities. Through his efforts they reached over 1,000 students in K- thru-8 via hands-on events.

He presented a new specialized approach to opioid prescription post surgery at the YMCA Conference on National Affairs at Appalachian State University in North Carolina. He reached the Top 10 of the 1% selected to attend the conference.

He also was a model United Nations General Assembly officer, finishing as runner-up for Secretary General, facilitating debate for over 1,500 delegates.

And, by the way, he combined his field goal and extra point kicking to total 245 kicking points, the most by any kicker in CAL football history.

He will attend the University of Pennsylvania.

The winner of the Frank Campo Memorial Humanitarian Award from the Cape-Atlantic League Class of 2026 is Nate Kashey of Mainland Regional High School.
