The Cape-Atlantic League has voted to re-align its three conferences for the 2022-23 season. The league ended its use of the “snake format” but might have come up with something almost as deadly.
Here are the alignments —-
Boys American: Atlantic City, Atlantic Tech, Bridgeton, Cedar Creek, Hammonton, Millville, Vineland.
Boys National: Egg Harbor Township, Holy Spirit, Middle Township, Ocean City, St. Augustine, St. Joseph, Wildwood Catholic.
Boys United: Absegami, Buena, Cape May Tech, Lower Cape May, Mainland, Oakcrest, Pleasantville.
Girls American: Atlantic City, Atlantic Tech, Cedar Creek, Egg Harbor Township, Hammonton, Holy Spirit, Millville.
Girls National: Absegami, Mainland, Middle Township, Ocean City, Our Lady of Mercy, Vineland, Wildwood Catholic.
Girls United: Bridgeton, Buena, Cape May Tech, Lower Cape May, Oakcrest, Pleasantville, St. Joseph.
As you can see, the CAL decided to group all four non-public boys teams in the same conference for the first time but spread the four non-public girls teams over the three conferences.
Exact schedules, including dates, will be announced after the spring break.
The CAL also voted to expand its eight-team basketball tournaments to 21 teams – allowing every school to participate in February 2023.
