Spring sports in the Cape-Atlantic League is coming down the stretch with conference championships and post-season tournaments coming up.
Here is a look at the top statistical performers in boys and girls lacrosse and boys and girls golf.
The most interesting stat shows that top scorer in both boys and girls lacrosse is a freshman. Pat Grimley of Ocean City leads among boys in a close battle with Middle Township junior Brett Nabb and Kevin Dougherty, a senior at Cedar Creek. The high-scoring freshman on the girls side is Hannah Watson of Holy Spirit.
Other category leaders in boys lacrosse include Ocean City’s Jake Schneider in assists, Isiah Carr-Wing of Middle Township in ground balls, Egg Harbor Township’s P.J. Haldun in faceoff percentage and Cedar Creek’s Bob Dougherty in save percentage.
Among girls, Watson also leads the CAL in assists, Egg Harbor Township’s Anna Smith in ground balls, Leah Corkhill in draw controls, and a tight three-way battle in save percentage between Lower Cape May’s Allyson Walsh, Middle’s Amelia Slick and Angelina Kenelia of Millville.
Hammonton boasts the leader in both boys and girls golf. Noah Petracci has a narrow lead over Holy Spirit’s Jim Dalzell among the boys. And the Blue Devils’ Olivia Strigh leads among girls.
