Quad Stars Herlihy & Papazoglou highlight 2021 CAL basketball all stars

By TOM WILLIAMS

Two outstanding girls basketball players became Quad Stars this week with the announcement by the Cape-Atlantic League of its 2021 basketball all stars.

Kate Herlihy of Middle Township and Marianna Papazoglou of Wildwood Catholic were both selected to the first team. It was the fourth straight year for both of the players, who also scored more than 1,000 points in their careers.

A Quad Star is that rare athlete who achieves first team recognition all four years in high school.

A total of 14 players named to this year’s basketball all star teams were repeat selections from the 2019-20 season – five boys and nine girls.

During this COVID-19 season, the CAL decided to selected 10 players from each of the three conferences as all stars with no honorable mention selections.

The complete 2021 CAL basketball all stars are HERE.

The final CAL standings, CAL stat leaders and Online 25 South Jersey rankings are HERE.

Our annual recap of the season will be online later this week.
