Ocean City’s Josh Barnes wins Campo Award

In 2014 the Frank Campo Humanitarian Award was created by Prime Events and Schoppy Inc. upon Campo’s retirement as athletics director at Atlantic City High School in recognition of his more than three decades of dedication to the student-athletes of the Cape-Atlantic League.

The award recognizes the senior varsity athlete whose academic achievement and dedication to community and service was the most outstanding.

This year’s winner, the seventh annual, is Josh Barnes of Ocean City.

Barnes is founder and regional ambassador for Sole4Souls Shoe Collection, which has collected more than 8,000 new/used shoes to be donated to those in need; he is a St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish religious education teacher and member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish Pastoral Council; a teacher for the Upper Township Middle School District Summer Enhancement Program; a captain of the Ocean City High School golf team; did sales and marketing for the Ocean City High School yearbook; is a peer leader and mentor; was a state finalist in the DECA Principles of Finance competition; and has a GPA of 4.69.

Barnes was originally planning to attend the College of William and Mary to major in finance at the School of Business. But a better offer came and he will be attending the prestigious Wallace E. Carroll School of Management at Boston College, regularly ranked among the best business schools in the United States.

Normally the Campo Award winner is recognized during the annual CAL Celebration on the Ocean City Music Pier, along with other award winners. But that event has been cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. So, the announcement is being made here.

There is more about previous Campo Award winners here.

Congratulations to Ocean City senior Josh Barnes for all that he has accomplished during his four years of high school. He is the latest winner of the Frank Campo Humanitarian Award.
