Ocean City and Holy Spirit have been in the same conference for the last four seasons in boys basketball. After the recent unique re-alignment by the Cape-Atlantic League, the two teams will no longer be in the same conference in boys basketball, though they will in girls basketball.
In the eight boys games played over the last four years, four have gone into overtime. Holy Spirit won five of the eight and OCHS three.
Below is a link to one of those games, in our newest Video Flashback, that went into overtime. It was played in Absecon in what should be called the Bill Deibert Memorial Gymnasium.
Luciano Lubrano scored 30 points, including six three-pointers, for Ocean City on that night. Luke Varallo added 19 points and four threes. Andrew Donoghue had eight points and 11 rebounds and even he had a pair of three-pointers.
Reece Miller scored 20 points for the Spartans, Dante Daniel had 17, Sam LaMonaca 15 and Drew Gallagher 12. Freshman Jacob Hopping added seven points and six rebounds.
In these days when everybody is looking for things to watch, travel back to January 17, 2017 and check out this video, produced by Matt Ulmer, as Ocean City and Holy Spirit battle it out.
