About nine days ago we linked to Ocean City’s thrilling 1999 South Jersey basketball championship win over Middle Township. There was a positive reaction. With so little sports to watch, people enjoyed watching that game.
So, we will do it again.
This time it’s a 2016 football game between the same two schools that went down to the final minutes at Carey Stadium. Shawn Scott had a three-touchdown game for Middle Township and Matt Harris threw for 130 yards.
But it was Andrew Donoghue who wrote into the record books, throwing for a school record 349 yards. He threw four TD passes, two to Matt Lashley, one to Luciano Lubrano and one to Issac Robertson. And Donoghue ran for one himself. The Raiders also benefited from Kevin Catanoso’s field goal.
Donoghue’s records at quarterback in 2016 started a string of four consecutive seasons when OCHS QBs wrote their names into the school records books, including Harry Pfeifle, Ian Aungst and Joe Repetti
So, click on the link and enjoy the game between the Raiders and the Panthers from October 15, 2016, produced by Matt Ulmer and Bill Shallcross. There is sometimes an audio problem when video from the ground-level camera is used but it won’t interfere with your chance to relive this great game.
