Like their male counterparts, the second decade of the 21st century was pretty impressive for girls cross country at Ocean City High School.

Trish Henry (138-7 in 17 overall seasons) guided the Raiders to an 80-2 record in the decade from 2010 through 2019. That includes South Jersey championships the last three seasons and four times overall; eight Cape-Atlantic League conference titles; and all 10 county championships.

Leading the way was a young woman who, in 2014, earned the right to be called the best cross country runner in the entire state. Devon Grisbaum became the second OCHS runner to win the NJSIAA Meet of Champions, which brought together the best runners from every group. She was also a multiple all-state and All-South Jersey runner who was a three-time first team all star in the CAL.

Grisbaum has a strong lineup of talented runners joining her, as you would expect with the great results during the decade. She was teammates with four of them – South Jersey champion Bridget Flynn and multiple-season all stars Mary Kate Brelsford, Rachel Stremme and Emma Bergman.

And the remaining members of the all-decade team were also together for at least one season, as well. That group includes three-time first team all stars Mickey Baker and Alexa Weber, plus two-time all stars Alexa Palmieri, Casey McLees and Becca Millar. Palmieri still has another fall season to run in the red and white.

It was another great decade with the gifted leadership of Henry with lots of great runners. But the best of them all in the 2nd Decade of this century was Devon Grisbaum who joins two-time MOC winner Brittany Sedberry (1st Decade), Abbey Hartman (1990s) and Maryjo Dougherty (1980s) as Ocean City High School Girls Cross Country Runners of the Decade.
