The Cape-Atlantic League approved last week a change in the location of the semifinal doubleheader in its girls basketball tournament.
For the first eight years of the CAL Tournament the girls semifinals were played in the Paul Rodio Gymnasium at St. Augustine Prep. But, in 2020, the doubleheader will be played in the Dixie Howell Memorial Gym at Ocean City High School.
The girls semifinal doubleheader will be played on Thursday, Feb. 27. First round games will be played on the home courts of the highest seeded teams on Monday, Feb. 24 and the boys semifinals will be on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at Absegami High School. The championship doubleheader will be at Stockton University on Saturday, Feb. 29.
One other change was approved. Any team, boys or girls, that wins its conference in basketball will be seeded no lower than fourth, assuring all conference champions of playing first round games at home.
The 2020 CAL Basketball Tournaments will be its ninth. Four teams were selected in 2012 and eight have qualified in the seasons since 2013.
