The Class of 2024

It will have a family feel when 10 new members of the Ocean City High School Sports Hall of Fame are inducted in December.

One new member joins his father and uncle in the Hall of Fame. There is another who joins his son, one who joins her sister and another who will join her mother.

Here are the newest individuals selected to join the Hall of Fame.

Fenton Carey Jr. was selected to the All-Century team in swimming where he won a state championship in the breaststroke. He was also a champion runner in track. He joins his father, E. Fenton, and his uncle, T. John, in the Hall of Fame. Carey Stadium is named in their honor.

Coach Wayne Colman won 153 track meets in 27 seasons, including four CAL titles and the school’s only South Jersey title in 65 years. He also coached football and was 11-7, the seventh best won-lost record among the 24 OCHS football coaches. He joins his son, Doug, in the Hall of Fame.

Megan Hartman was a two-time champion in track and became the first Ocean City girl to win at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions. She won five South Jersey championships, three in track and two in cross country and was named to the All-Century team in both sports. She joins her sister, Abbey, in the Hall of Fame.

Nicholl Fenton was selected to the All-Decade field hockey team. She was named All-State and helped the Raiders to a pair of state titles and four South Jersey championships. The team went 85-14 in her four years. She played basketball and was an all star in lacrosse. She joins her mother, Kristie Miller Fenton, in the Hall of Fame.

Dan Money was that rare four-sport athlete. He was an all star in football and track, excelling on both offense and defense in football and in multiple track events. He was a two-year starter in basketball and he played baseball – largely as a pinch runner.

Chris Curran was Offensive Player of the Decade in football and All-Decade in basketball. He is #5 in career passing yards, #4 in career extra points and holds field goal kicking records. He is among the Top 20 OCHS basketball scorers and led the Raiders to their only CAL playoff championship, scoring a record 33 points in the championship game.

Margaret Rowell is the third leading scorer in OCHS girls basketball history. She was named to the All-Century Team in basketball. She holds the school records for points in a game (40) and rebounds in a game (28).

Meredith Long was a multiple all star. She was named to the All-Decade teams in both field hockey and lacrosse. She was an All-American in field hockey and the Raiders won three state titles and four CAL championships with her in the lineup.

John Henry Sr. was on the All-Century Team in both track and football. He held the school 100-meter record for 56 years until this past spring season. He once scored five touchdowns in the first half of a game, four of them from beyond 50 yards.

John LePore was a multi-sport all star. He was on the OCHS All-Century Team in football. As a senior, he was the leading scorer in South Jersey. He was also a champion in track and a two-year starter in basketball.

In addition to the 10 individuals, the 1999 field hockey team, coached by Hall of Famer Trish LeFever, will be inducted. This team was 20-0-3, the only undefeated field hockey team in school history, and won the state championship.

The complete list of current Hall of Famers can be found HERE. The induction ceremonies for new members will take place Dec. 7 at the Hughes Auditorium in the high school.
