Connor Laverty 3×3 Tournament teams & schedule

By TOM WILLIAMS

The Connor Laverty Memorial 3×3 Basketball Tournament will be held on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

Because of damage to the floor of the Dixie Howell Memorial Gymnasium in the high school, the games will be played on the outdoor courts at the Boardwalk end of Sixth Street. In case of inclement weather, they will be moved inside the Civic Center, adjacent to the outdoor courts.

We had a lot of fun with imaginary teams the past two weeks but here are the real teams that have entered and the schedule for the first round. The schedule is subject to change.

These first round games start between 9 and 10 a.m., pretty much in the same order in each region bracket that they are listed above. The second round will follow with winners brackets and losers brackets. Championship games are anticipated between 1:45 and 2pm.

Each game will be 15 minutes of running clock with regular two-point and three-point rules, unlike the Olympic Games. Winning teams will receive medals and the top two teams will be presented with gift cards.

There is no admission charge for fans but there will be a donation table available for the Connor Laverty Foundation. Laverty was a 1,000 point scorer at both Ocean City High School and Widener University who died from cancer in January at age 25. He was OCHS Player of the Decade for the Second Decade (2010-19) and Player of the Year at Widener in the Middle Atlantic Conference.
