Ocean City High School’s football schedule for 2020 was released today by the West Jersey Football League.
In addition to WJFL Independence Division games with Absegami, Egg Harbor Township, Pemberton, Oakcrest and Seneca, the Raiders will play non-division games in September against Holy Spirit, Hammonton and Mainland and will play Pleasantville on Thanksgiving Day.
Holy Spirit, Mainland, Pemberton and Oakcrest will be home games. OCHS last played Holy Spirit and Hammonton in 2011, played Pemberton once in 1946 and has never played Seneca.
It is possible another game could be added on the bye week in mid-October. The NJSIAA playoffs will begin the first weekend in November.
Among other observations about the new WJFL schedule, Mainland and Egg Harbor Township were not scheduled, but the two schools have arranged to play on Labor Day weekend; St. Joseph and Hammonton are scheduled to resume their rivalry series, formerly played on Thanksgiving, on an early weekend (but this game might disappear); Middle Township will play non-division games with Bridgeton, Glassboro and Collingswood; Holy Spirit’s first three games will be on the road – at Ocean City, St. Joseph and Camden; Mainland will play five of its first six games at home; and, for some reason, St. Joe and St. Augustine are not scheduled (hope they solve that problem).
Some schools may add Additional games against teams outside the WJFL.
